Name: Mason Harrison

Current city: San Francisco, CA

Current job: Head of Communications, Crowdpac

Past job: Political campaigns (Romney, McCain, Fiorina), and public affairs firms (DDC, Meridian Pacific)

Q. Favorite spot for a coffee meeting? Jane (925 Larkin Street)

Q. Describe one way how a skill you learned in a previous job helped you in your new job: I can’t think of any skill I picked up while working on political campaigns that hasn’t somehow been applied at my current job. There are endless similarities between political campaigns and tech startups. Each involves small teams trying to scale at a frenetic pace, which requires agility, adaptability, and a general appreciation for chaos.

Q. Job advice in three words? Pitch every day (a variation on "always be pitching” that can really spare your friends)

Q. How are you (or your company, org, nonprofit) currently bridging the gap between politics and tech? Crowdpac is a crowdfunding site for politics - we're helping citizens run for office and get causes off the ground with small dollar donations. One third of this year's newly elected Members of Congress got started on our platform!

Q. Last time you were completely unplugged? Last summer, I spent four days backpacking the Lost Coast Trail - the only stretch of California coastline untouched by Hwy 1. It's an isolated (and foggy) journey with absolutely no reception!
